The "Super Citizen" Program
At the core of each program is the Super Citizen Program Resource Kit. And though the curriculum and teaching methods vary based on targeted grade levels, the Statue of Liberty and the ideas she symbolizes remain constant. Each kit is packed with videos, books, curriculum, companion materials and an Authentic Liberty Replica to make the 10-week program a resounding success.
The Super Citizen Program Resource Kit (grades 3-5) begins with a high-energy “kickoff” performance (on video or in person) and continues with video-led lesson-starters that walk educators through easy and exciting ways to reach the “iPod Generation” in the classroom. Lessons in American history, civics, financial literacy, character and career readiness are aided by expertly developed lesson plans and stimulating online extension activities. The lessons plans are both flexible and adaptable to the teachers’ chosen schedule and course of study. Collateral material including stickers, flags, Statue of Liberty Crowns, Statue of Liberty Fun Facts, and student workbooks are all included in the kit to round out the immersive experience.
The Super Citizen Program Resource Kit (grades K-2) centers on the one-of-a-kind "Hands on Liberty" video series. In the 10-episode series, a hilarious cast of hand-puppet characters entertain, engage and teach students lessons in civics, financial responsibility, character and the great American story that illustrates their important roles in America's future. Based on proven age-appropriate teaching methods, the groundbreaking program uses witty monologue, art, poetry, vocabulary, pop quizzes and "Schoolhouse Rock"-style songs to boost engagement and retention of core concepts. Each episode includes follow-up lesson plans, worksheets and ten “Libby Liberty” books to ensure that the Super Citizen experience lays a lasting foundation for our Next Great Americans. Our Focal Symbol: The Statue of Liberty
The Statue of Liberty is a symbolic focal point for all Liberty's Legacy programs. She is an enduring symbol of freedom and is the embodiment of the ideas and ideals our country is founded upon. Her history is the perfect introduction to our great American story. And it is a reminder of the amazing opportunities and responsibilities we have as citizens of the United States.
The Pillars and Foundation
The Liberty's Legacy "Pillars and Foundations of Outstanding Citizens" begin with an understanding that mastery of teach-to-test subjects alone will not ensure responsible citizens. Our curriculum ads the "pillars" of Character Development, Financial Responsibility and Career Readiness - all on a "foundation" of our great American story that gives students a context for understanding their important roles in America's future.
The pillar concepts are taught in conjunction with required subjects across the curriculum. Depth of study increases throughout the K-12 life cycle; preparing young adults with the life skills, passion and character they need to succeed.
The Life Cycle
Liberty's Legacy programs repeat and reinforce the "Pillars and Foundations of Outstanding Citizens" through engaging in-school learning experiences in grades K-12. Each program uses age-appropriate methods to builds on prior understanding of history, civic responsibility, character, financial responsibility and career readiness. The entire life cycle arms students with the life skills, passion and character they need to succeed.
