Letters to the Military


Students will write friendly letters to active duty military service men and women.


  • Envelopes
  • Postage
  • Paper
  • Addresses of active duty military service men and women


Discuss the contributions made by military service men and women. 

Explain to the students that they will be writing letters to active duty service men and women.  Students should include the five parts of a friendly letter.

Remind students that they are required to have a heading, greeting, body, closing, and signature.  

Students may share their letters with the class before mailing.


Teacher will assess the content and format of the letter.
